KARACHI – In a major disciplinary move, ten Station House Officers (SHOs) from various districts across Sindh have been suspended and demoted for alleged involvement in criminal and unethical activities, according to official orders from the Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police.

The officers, hailing from Hyderabad, Karachi, Sanghar, Qambar Shahdadkot, Sukkur, and Shikarpur, were found to be allegedly engaged in activities deemed as social crimes and serious professional misconduct. The decision follows an internal investigation led by the DIG Establishment, Naeem Ahmed Shaikh.

All ten officers have been directed to report to the Police Headquarters in Garden, Karachi, specifically to the disciplinary unit known as B-Company. This unit, often referred to within police circles as Kala Pani (a term historically used to denote punishment and exile), is designated for blacklisted or suspended personnel who are made to sit idle for eight hours daily as a form of internal banishment.

Among the affected officers is Zahid Siraj, formerly the SHO of A-Section Latifabad police station in Hyderabad. He has been suspended with immediate effect and demoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector. Like the others, he has also been instructed to report to B-Company.

The list includes six SHOs from police stations in Karachi and one each from the districts of Qambar Shahdadkot, Sukkur, and Shikarpur. The disciplinary action has seen six inspectors demoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector, three Sub-Inspectors reduced to Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and one Assistant Sub-Inspector demoted to the position of Head Constable.

The Sindh Police have not released specific details about the nature of the alleged misconduct, but the swift action signals a renewed effort to improve discipline and public trust within the provincial police force. The internal accountability process is part of a broader push to curb corruption and ensure greater integrity in law enforcement.

The demotion of senior police officers in Sindh comes amid growing public scrutiny over law enforcement practices in the province. Citizens have increasingly voiced concerns about alleged abuse of power, corruption, and the absence of effective internal oversight. While the action signals a possible effort to address accountability within the force, no official statements have confirmed the reasons behind the disciplinary measures.

Authorities have not released further information regarding any ongoing criminal cases or internal inquiries involving the suspended officers.
