Over the past 24 hours, the Punjab Emergency Service Department has responded to 23 road traffic accidents across Chiniot, resulting in injuries to 27 people, according to official data.

Of the injured, 21 were men and 6 were women, the report said. Out of the total, 18 people sustained minor injuries and were treated on the spot by Rescue 1122 teams. They were later discharged after receiving basic medical assistance.

However, nine individuals suffered serious injuries and required hospitalisation. After receiving emergency first aid at the scene, they were transported to nearby medical facilities using Rescue 1122 ambulances.

The department’s timely intervention ensured rapid access to medical care, preventing potential escalation of injuries. According to officials, the rescue teams remained active throughout the day and night, prioritising road safety and timely emergency response.

While the exact causes of these multiple accidents have not been detailed in the report, traffic congestion, over-speeding, and lack of driver awareness are often cited by authorities as contributing factors in such incidents across Punjab.

Authorities have urged drivers and commuters to remain vigilant, especially during high-traffic periods. They also highlighted the importance of adhering to road safety rules, using seatbelts, and avoiding mobile phone usage while driving.

The Punjab Emergency Service, commonly known as Rescue 1122, continues to play a crucial role in saving lives through rapid response and on-site medical support. The department also conducts regular training and awareness campaigns across districts in Punjab to improve community preparedness and reduce traffic-related incidents.

Local officials in Chiniot acknowledged the swift action by emergency personnel and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening emergency services and road safety infrastructure.

This recent spate of road accidents has raised concerns among local residents and authorities, prompting calls for better traffic regulation and driver education in the region.

For now, the focus remains on the recovery of the injured and ensuring preventive measures are in place to minimise such occurrences in the future.
