Karachi authorities have made a major development in the case of the suspected murder of Sana Muhammad Asif and Sajid Masih, whose bodies were discovered near China Port in the Clifton area. DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that the police recovered four suspects from Gujranwala, including Waqas, who is the brother of the female victim. None of the suspects has yet been formally accused, and all remain in custody for questioning as investigations continue.

The victims appeared to be in their mid-20s to 30s and reportedly came from the same Gujranwala village. Initial police reports indicate that both left home on July 15 and may have intended to marry. Sana’s brother filed a kidnapping FIR on July 17 with the Tatlay Aali Police in Gujranwala, naming Sajid and other persons. This led authorities to conduct coordinated operations across provinces and detain those with suspected involvement.

The bodies were found side by side and had sustained gunshot wounds to the head. Authorities recovered two spent 9 mm cartridges at the scene, raising suspicions of a potential honour killing. However, investigators emphasize that motive is not confirmed, and the case remains under active inquiry.

Sajid’s family, including his father Arif Masih, traveled from Gujranwala to Karachi to assist investigators. Arif submitted a formal statement providing details leading up to the killings, and police expect further names to emerge from his account. During media interviews at the Boat Basin police station, Sajid’s mother expressed shock at the tragedy and said she had no prior knowledge of a relationship or marriage between Sana and her son. She also said that she and her family learned of the deaths through social media and feared for their safety. Her comments reflected emotional distress and concern rather than verified threats.

Police reiterated that the motive remains unconfirmed and the investigation is ongoing. They said they may register additional arrests once evidence develops. The case has drawn attention due to its cross-provincial dimension and potential social significance. The department stated it had launched a systematic inquiry and secured initial findings in collaboration with law enforcement agencies in Gujranwala.

In summary, while authorities have apprehended four individuals associated with the case, including a close family member, no charges have yet been filed. The police are actively gathering evidence, reviewing witness statements, and analyzing forensic materials to determine the circumstances and motive. The public and media are awaiting further updates as proceedings continue.
