Political parties in Bajaur held a large-scale protest on Wednesday against the ongoing security operation and the deteriorating law and order situation in the district, demanding an immediate end to violence and displacement.

The protest, which took place at Umaray Mamond Chowk, was led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) district president and former Member of the National Assembly (MNA), Gul Zafar Khan, alongside local leader Najib Khan Mamond. A significant number of local political workers and youth participated in the demonstration, highlighting growing frustration with the current situation in the region.

Speakers at the protest criticized what they described as persistent instability and the lack of effective governance in Bajaur. They claimed that the local population had endured ongoing violence for years and were now demanding peace and stability without further military intervention.

Gul Zafar Khan stated that the people of Bajaur had paid a heavy price due to repeated security operations in the past and were now united in opposing further conflict. He called on authorities to prioritize dialogue and development over military action.

Participants raised concerns about civilian displacement and economic hardship resulting from the current operation. They urged the government to restore order through peaceful means and provide immediate relief to those affected.

Najib Khan Mamond emphasized the need for political dialogue and community engagement to resolve the underlying issues, stating that peace in Bajaur could only be achieved through inclusive governance and local cooperation.

The protest remained peaceful and concluded with a unanimous demand for the government to reconsider its approach in the district. Protesters called for increased accountability, protection of civilian rights, and immediate rehabilitation measures for those displaced.

Bajaur, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has experienced a series of security challenges in recent years, often leading to operations that impact local residents. The current unrest has intensified calls from local stakeholders for long-term solutions that ensure peace without undermining civil liberties.

There has been no immediate response from authorities regarding the demands raised during the protest.
