National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq calls for peaceful resolutions to the Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine disputes, emphasizing adherence to United Nations Security Council resolutions to uphold human rights.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Pakistan, has urged the international community to pursue peaceful resolutions for the longstanding disputes in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, stressing the importance of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. Speaking at the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva on July 29, 2025, Sadiq highlighted the erosion of global trust in multilateral institutions due to unresolved conflicts, as reported by Arab News. His remarks underscore Pakistan’s commitment to human rights and justice through diplomatic solutions.

Addressing global parliamentary leaders, Sadiq condemned unilateral actions and the politicization of humanitarian principles, which he said undermine the UN’s credibility. He emphasized that sustainable peace requires diplomacy, mediation, and adherence to international law, particularly UNSC Resolution 47 (1948) for Kashmir, which calls for a plebiscite, and resolutions supporting Palestinian self-determination. “The world has witnessed enough bloodshed,” Sadiq stated, advocating for mechanisms like arbitration and judicial action to resolve disputes, per a National Assembly press release. He also praised Pakistan’s leadership in securing the unanimous adoption of UNSC Resolution 2788, which strengthens global dispute settlement frameworks.

Sadiq drew attention to the human toll in both regions, noting that Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) face decades of systemic oppression, with over 100,000 deaths since 1989, according to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Similarly, he condemned the loss of over 58,000 Palestinian lives, predominantly women and children, in ongoing Gaza conflicts, as cited by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at a UNSC debate on July 23, 2025. Sadiq called for immediate action to protect the right to self-determination, a cornerstone of the UN Charter.

Pakistan, a major contributor to UN peacekeeping with over 235,000 troops deployed across 48 missions, continues to advocate for robust, well-funded peacekeeping operations to stabilize conflict zones, as stated by Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad. Sadiq’s advocacy reflects Pakistan’s resolve to champion human rights and peace, urging global leaders to prioritize diplomacy over coercion to resolve these enduring crises.
