Three Soldiers Martyred in Balochistan’s Mastung IED Attack

Three Pakistan Army personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack in Mastung, Balochistan, during the night of August 5 and 6, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The attack involved an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists associated with an Indian-backed group, identified by the military as ‘Fitna al Hindustan’.

The IED targeted a security forces vehicle in the Mastung district. As a result, three soldiers embraced martyrdom:

• Major Muhammad Rizwan Tahir, aged 31, from Narowal district
  
• Naik Ibni Amin, aged 37, from Swabi district
  
• Lance Naik Muhammad Younas, aged 33, from Karak district
  

Major Rizwan, according to ISPR, had a distinguished career, having participated in numerous counter-terrorism operations and demonstrating leadership by consistently leading from the front.

Following the incident, a sanitisation operation was launched in the area. During the operation, four terrorists believed to be linked with Indian proxy networks were killed. The ISPR confirmed the operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats in the region.

In its official statement, the ISPR emphasised that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism, particularly threats originating from external sponsorship. It added that the sacrifices made by the fallen soldiers reinforce the nation’s commitment to peace and security.

“Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eradicating the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country, and the supreme sacrifices of our brave sons only strengthen our resolve,” the military’s media wing stated.

This incident adds to the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in Balochistan, where cross-border and proxy threats have intensified in recent months. The government and military leadership have reiterated their intention to continue counterterrorism operations until stability is fully restored in the region.
