A police head constable in Sargodha has been booked for allegedly occupying a widow’s residential plot through illegal means, following a complaint submitted to senior police authorities.

The case involves Amara Saeed, widow of a late university professor who taught in the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Sargodha. After her husband passed away from cancer during his service, she used the compensation funds to legally purchase a 10-marla residential plot in the city.

According to her written complaint submitted to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sargodha, Shehzad Asif Khan, the property had a boundary wall, but it was recently demolished and construction had begun without her consent.

Ms. Saeed visited the site with her father to investigate the situation. There, they encountered a man who identified himself as Head Constable Muhammad Asif Qazi. The officer allegedly claimed that he had bought the plot from another citizen and was now its rightful owner.

However, the widow maintains that no such transaction ever took place. She suspects that elements of the local land mafia, in collaboration with the police official, conspired to illegally seize her land.

Initially, Ms. Saeed attempted to settle the matter through local community elders and influential figures but received no resolution. She then escalated the matter formally to the regional police.

Following her complaint, RPO Shehzad Asif Khan ordered an official inquiry into the matter. Upon completion of the investigation, Station House Officer (SHO) Umar Farooq of Cantt Police Station was instructed to register a case based on the findings.

The First Information Report (FIR) has now been lodged against Head Constable Muhammad Asif Qazi, and the case is under further investigation.

This incident has raised concerns about the abuse of authority by law enforcement officials and the challenges ordinary citizens particularly widows and vulnerable individuals face in protecting their property rights.

So far, no arrests have been made, and no public statement has been issued by the accused officer or his legal representatives. Authorities have confirmed that the matter is being pursued according to legal procedures.
