In two separate incidents in Punjab, police have reported a fatal shooting during a domestic dispute in Faisalabad and the arrest of a police officer in Kasur in connection with a kidnapping and murder case.

Faisalabad shooting over family conflict
According to Tandlianwala Saddar Police, a man was killed by his son following a violent altercation at their home in village 412-GB. The complainant, Tasaduq Masood Shah, told police that his uncle, Ghulam Farid Shah Chishti, had been struggling with drug addiction and had verbally abused his children.

When Chishti’s son, Afzal Farid Shah, tried to intervene, the situation reportedly escalated. The complainant alleged that Chishti physically assaulted Afzal and attempted to shoot him with a pistol. In response, Afzal allegedly wrestled the weapon away and fired at his father, striking him in the head and face. The victim died on the spot.

Upon receiving the report, SHO Waqas Hindal and other officers arrived at the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the firearm. Police said a murder case has been registered, and investigations are underway to determine the full circumstances of the shooting.

Kasur SHO detained in murder probe
In a separate case, Faisalabad Civil Lines Station House Officer (SHO) Zeeshan Khalid Randhawa was arrested in Kasur for his alleged role in a kidnapping and murder. According to police sources, the FIR registered at Sheikhum Police Station under Sections 365 and 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code accuses Randhawa and several others of abducting Ghulam Rasool, killing him, and disposing of his body.

The FIR states that 20 armed men, including individuals named Matloob and Taimoor, were involved in the incident. Some of the suspects were reportedly released after a settlement between the parties, though police have not confirmed the terms of that agreement.

Kasur Crime Control Department personnel, with assistance from a deputy superintendent posted in Faisalabad, took Randhawa into custody outside an anti-terrorism court, where he had gone to testify in another matter.

Following the arrest, the Faisalabad city police officer suspended Randhawa from duty and instructed SSP Operations Bushra Jamil to launch a formal inquiry.
