Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan: Tragedy struck a local family in Taunsa Sharif after three young brothers died suddenly under mysterious circumstances, raising suspicions of poisoning. The incident has prompted police to register a murder case and launch a detailed investigation.

The victims, aged between one and four years, were sons of Khwaja Ghayasullah, who filed the complaint with local authorities. According to the father, his children’s health deteriorated rapidly after exhibiting symptoms consistent with poisoning.

Muhammad Umar, the youngest at one year old, died while receiving treatment at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) in Taunsa Sharif. The two older brothers, Ghulam Muhammad (2) and Moinuddin (4), were transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Multan for advanced care but unfortunately passed away there.

Local sources indicate the family had been involved in ongoing property disputes, which have led to speculation about possible motives. However, the police have not confirmed any suspects or motives at this stage.

Dera Ghazi Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Wilayat personally visited the family’s home to gather details about the incident. Upon hearing the complaint of suspected poisoning, he ordered the immediate registration of a murder case under Sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The Crime Scene Unit was dispatched to collect evidence from the family’s residence. Additionally, samples from the deceased children’s bodies have been sent to a forensic laboratory for further analysis.

The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem examinations. Funeral prayers were held at Darbar Alia Sulaymaniyah in Taunsa, attended by numerous local residents, police officers, and administrative officials.

In a related development, a separate incident of violence was reported in the nearby area of Basti Jumna Chandia, near Dera Ghazi Khan city. A 13-year-old girl named Rabia and a man identified as Shafqat were shot dead by rival suspects during a land dispute.

According to eyewitnesses, the victims were attacked while working on their farmland. The alleged shooters, Fayyaz Sajjad and Riaz, opened fire as the victims approached a nearby road, reportedly due to longstanding enmity between the families.

Police officials, including the DPO and local Station House Officer (SHO) Karam Elahi, assessed the scene and engaged with community elders to collect information. Both victims’ bodies were taken to Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Authorities have vowed to investigate both cases thoroughly and arrest anyone found responsible.
