Lahore Stadium Hosts Minority Youth Sports Gala

Punjab Stadium hosted a sports competition involving 500 minority children as part of Minority Week and Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations. The event was organized by the Department of Human Rights & Minorities Affairs (HR&MA) in collaboration with Christian Council Pakistan. The competition included cricket, football, boxing, powerlifting, kickboxing, and traditional games, featuring teams from various Christian communities in Lahore, such as Sijao Church Yohannabad and FGA Church Nagra Town.

Officials from the HR&MA attended the event, which aimed to promote social inclusion and youth engagement within minority communities. Security personnel and volunteer referees supported the organization and smooth conduct of the tournament. Some sports personalities were also present at the event.

The competition combined athletic activities with cultural observances, as participants displayed Pakistani flags and observed national symbols throughout the event. Parents and community members expressed appreciation for opportunities for minority youth to participate in public and national platforms. Organizers noted the event’s role in encouraging interaction across different groups within society.
