Mohsin Naqvi Directs Sweeping Reforms for FIA Modernization

On July 21, 2025, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarters in Islamabad to announce a comprehensive reform initiative aimed at modernizing the agency’s operations and strengthening its efforts against illegal activities such as human smuggling and immigration fraud. The reforms are part of a broader plan to improve efficiency and restore public confidence in Pakistan’s premier investigative body.

Naqvi’s visit included a tribute to FIA personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, highlighting the agency’s critical role in national security. During a high-level meeting, the minister emphasized the need for urgent updates to laws and operational procedures to enhance the FIA’s effectiveness. He underscored the importance of accountability and performance-based incentives within the agency.

FIA Director General Raja Riffat Mukhtar briefed the minister on ongoing reforms and expressed commitment to supporting the outlined initiatives.

The overhaul comes amid calls for greater efficiency and transparency within the FIA. These reforms seek to address challenges related to organized crime, including human trafficking networks and financial crimes. By enhancing operational capabilities and tightening regulations, the government aims to restore the FIA’s ability to safeguard national interests and uphold law enforcement standards.
