Park Road Housing: New Homes for Federal & Legal Professionals

Download IPFS

The Park Road Housing Scheme is a significant collaborative housing project developed jointly by the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) and the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP), with National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) appointed as the project developer. Strategically located on the main Park Road near Moza Tamma and Mariyan, this housing scheme aims to address the residential needs of federal employees and members of the Supreme Court Bar Association by offering well-planned living spaces within Islamabad’s accessible urban landscape.

The project was officially inaugurated approximately eleven months ago in a ceremony attended by judges and employees affiliated with the SCBAP, underlining the importance of this initiative to Pakistan’s federal workforce and legal community. The location offers considerable convenience, situated just seven minutes from COMSATS University Islamabad, a notable educational institution; twenty-eight minutes from Zero Point Islamabad, a central city hub; and twenty minutes from Islamabad Expressway, one of the city’s primary roadways. These connections ensure easy access to educational, administrative, and commercial centers, enhancing the project’s appeal.

This expansive housing project comprises a total of 5,690 residential plots, equally divided between the two primary beneficiary groups: 2,345 plots are allocated to federal government employees under FGEHA, and another 2,345 plots are dedicated to SCBAP members. Plot allocation for federal employees is determined by seniority, ensuring that long-serving employees are prioritized. Meanwhile, SCBAP employees are required to submit a formal recommendation letter from their association, establishing a transparent and fair eligibility process for the legal fraternity.

According to the official FGEHA website, the approved layout plan encompasses 8,380.3 Kanal, a traditional unit of land measurement in Pakistan, designed to support a well-organized community. Specifically, the plan includes 777 residential plots measuring 32 feet by 70 feet, and 1,916 larger plots measuring 50 feet by 90 feet, earmarked for SCBAP members. This precise land distribution reflects the project’s scale and careful planning to accommodate diverse housing preferences.

On September 14th, a balloting ceremony took place at the Islamabad Convention Center, during which allotment letters were officially handed over to successful applicants from both FGEHA and SCBAP. This event was attended by prominent figures, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Minister for Housing & Works, the Minister for Law & Justice, and the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to advancing housing infrastructure for these key professional groups.

While the current government continues to face criticism over various administrative issues, projects like the Park Road Housing Scheme demonstrate a focus on delivering practical solutions for Pakistan’s federal workforce and legal professionals. This initiative marks a welcome development in the nation’s housing sector, providing dedicated residential opportunities in a growing capital city.
