Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, Member of the National Assembly (MNA), distributed house ownership certificates to women affected by the 2022 floods in Nawabshah, supporting Sindh’s rehabilitation efforts.

On August 2, 2025, Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and First Lady of Pakistan, distributed house ownership certificates to women in flood-affected villages of Nawabshah, Shaheed Benazirabad district, as part of the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) program. Accompanied by Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, she visited Village Faiz Mohammad Pathan and Khadim Hussain Shar in UC Abdullah Lund, where she handed over property documents to female heads of households, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s House. The initiative, launched to rebuild homes destroyed in the 2022 floods, has constructed over 2.1 million houses across Sindh, with ownership prioritized for women to ensure their legal rights.

During the ceremony at Latif Hall, Peoples University, Nawabshah, Aseefa emphasized that the ownership certificates represent security and dignity for families, fulfilling a pledge made by her grandfather, former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, to provide shelter to all citizens. She praised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership, particularly Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, for driving the project, as reported by Daily Times. Aseefa also laid the foundation stone for Benazir Girls School in Taluka Daur, which will feature 45 classrooms and modern educational facilities, reinforcing the commitment to rural education.

The SPHF program, one of the world’s largest free housing initiatives, aims to restore stability for families displaced by the catastrophic 2022 monsoon floods. Aseefa’s visit included interactions with beneficiaries, who shared their challenges, to which she assured ongoing support, according to Dawn. Additionally, Aseefa announced plans for a drainage system and a Sindh Bank branch in the 60 Mile area to enhance local infrastructure.

This initiative reflects Sindh’s focused approach to post-flood recovery, prioritizing tangible benefits for affected communities. By securing property rights for women, the program strengthens their economic and social standing, aligning with Pakistan’s broader rehabilitation goals.
