An Afghan national accused of murdering a 9-year-old boy in Baffa, a town in Pakistan’s Mansehra district, was shot dead during an armed encounter with police on Wednesday night.

According to officials from the Baffa police station, the suspect was wanted for the brutal killing of Muhammad Usman, a young boy who went missing on July 20 after attending evening prayers. The child was a resident of Mohallah Railway Station, Baffa.

His body was later discovered buried in a sugarcane field, with the head separated from the torso and hidden several feet away.
