Faisalabad Father Sentenced for Killing Daughter

A district and sessions court in Faisalabad has sentenced a man to death and imposed a total of 74 years in prison for murdering his five-year-old daughter and injuring four other members of his family during a violent domestic incident.

District and Sessions Judge Abdul Raheem delivered the verdict in a case registered at Mansoorabad Police Station. The accused, identified as Zeeshan, son of Shaukat, a resident of Malikpur, was convicted of fatally assaulting his daughter Anushka with a pair of scissors. His wife, Shama Bibi, two younger daughters—Saman (2 years) and Huma (3 months)—and his 12-year-old stepson, Talha, also sustained injuries in the attack.

According to the prosecution, Zeeshan launched the assault during a domestic dispute, allegedly motivated by resentment over the continued birth of daughters in the marriage. The First Information Report (FIR) was filed on the basis of a relative’s eyewitness account. Charges were brought under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including 302 (murder), 324 (attempted murder), 337-D (grievous injury), and 337-F (hurt).

In addition to the death sentence for the murder of his daughter under Section 302, the court ordered Zeeshan to pay Rs 1 million in compensation to the victim’s family. He was also fined a total of Rs 9.6 million. Failure to pay these fines will result in additional imprisonment of six months for each unpaid amount.

For the attempted murder of his wife and three children, Zeeshan received four separate prison terms of 10 years under Section 324, each accompanied by a fine of Rs 100,000 and six months’ additional imprisonment in case of default. Under Section 337-D, he received three additional 10-year terms for causing grievous bodily harm. A further one-year sentence and Rs 50,000 fine were imposed under one count of Section 337-F, and another three-year term with a Rs 70,000 fine under a separate count of the same section.

The ruling underscores the severity with which courts are treating cases involving domestic violence and child abuse. Authorities confirmed that Zeeshan is in custody and will be transferred to prison to serve his sentence, pending appeal.
