Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district have attached properties linked to three militants operating from Pakistan, as part of ongoing anti-terrorism efforts in the region.

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have taken a firm stance against terrorism by attaching properties linked to three militants based in Pakistan. The action was carried out in Budgam district as part of India’s broader campaign to dismantle terrorist networks and limit their reach and influence in the region.

The individuals involved are known to be affiliated with proscribed terrorist organizations and are currently residing in Pakistan. Their names have been associated with activities aimed at disturbing peace and order in Jammu and Kashmir. By targeting these handlers’ immovable assets, the administration seeks to send a strong message that those supporting or promoting terrorism, even from across the border, will not be allowed to enjoy the proceeds of crime or maintain influence within Indian territory.

The action was carried out under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), a central law designed to combat terrorism and other national security threats. The local police and administration, working in coordination, identified and sealed the properties after completing the required legal procedures. Notices have also been issued to inform the public that these properties are now under government control.

Officials said this step is part of an ongoing drive to expose and weaken the support infrastructure of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. They added that attaching such properties serves not only as a punitive measure but also as a deterrent to others who may be involved in or planning to aid militant activities.

“This is a clear warning to all terror operatives, both local and foreign. Those who choose the path of violence and promote unrest will face the consequences, regardless of where they are based,” a senior police official stated.

In recent years, security forces and local administration in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified efforts to curb the influence of overseas handlers who orchestrate violence remotely. Targeting their assets is seen as an effective strategy to limit their operational capacities and reduce their psychological hold over local supporters.

The move has been welcomed by many local residents who believe such steps are necessary to restore peace and stability in the region. While the challenges remain complex due to the cross-border nature of the threat, authorities reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing all legal options to eliminate terrorism from its roots.

As the crackdown continues, more properties linked to such individuals may face similar action, signaling a zero-tolerance policy towards those attempting to destabilize India’s internal security.
