Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Pakistan for a two-day official visit from August 2 to 3. This marks his first visit to the country since assuming the presidency. The visit was arranged at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and is part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two neighboring countries.

President Pezeshkian is leading a high-level delegation that includes Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, senior cabinet members, and top government officials. The Pakistani Foreign Office stated that the visit aims to reinforce bilateral relations, with a focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, regional stability, border security, and energy.

During his stay, President Pezeshkian will hold formal meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Both leaders are expected to lead delegation-level discussions covering a wide range of bilateral and regional issues. Among the topics on the agenda are energy cooperation, trade facilitation, cross-border infrastructure, and joint efforts to address regional security concerns.

President Pezeshkian is also scheduled to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari. The meetings are expected to highlight mutual interest in deepening relations between Pakistan and Iran. Both sides have expressed the intention to strengthen economic ties and explore further opportunities for collaboration across multiple sectors.

The visit takes place amid increasing attention on regional connectivity, particularly in the context of development projects involving cross-border energy transmission, trade routes, and economic integration. Officials from both countries have emphasized the importance of practical cooperation and the need to resolve shared challenges.

The Foreign Office described the visit as an important milestone in the long-standing relationship between Iran and Pakistan. It also noted that regular high-level exchanges are essential for promoting mutual understanding and strategic coordination.

In preparation for the visit, security has been heightened in Islamabad. Authorities have implemented detailed protocols to facilitate the meetings and ensure the safety of the visiting delegation. Roads near key government buildings have been monitored, and diplomatic venues are under tight security arrangements.

President Pezeshkian’s visit is expected to conclude on August 3. A joint statement may be released at the end of the trip to outline the outcomes of the discussions and affirm the two countries’ commitment to enhanced bilateral cooperation.
