Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Pakistan on August 2, 2025, for a two-day trip to strengthen bilateral ties, marking his first visit to the country.

Islamabad, Pakistan – Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on August 2, 2025, for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as confirmed by Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on July 30, 2025. This marks Pezeshkian’s first trip to Pakistan and the second by an Iranian president in two years, following the late President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit in April 2024. The visit, announced by Political Adviser Mehdi Sanai via X, aims to deepen political, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two nations.

Upon arrival in Lahore, President Pezeshkian will pay respects at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, Pakistan’s national poet, before heading to Islamabad for high-level meetings on August 3. His schedule includes bilateral talks with Prime Minister Sharif and a one-on-one meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari. Discussions will focus on boosting trade beyond the current $3 billion, enhancing border management, and advancing energy and regional security cooperation, according to government sources cited by Minute Mirror. Meetings with cultural and business elites are also planned to foster provincial collaboration and economic ties.

The visit underscores Pakistan and Iran’s shared commitment to strengthening longstanding ties rooted in geography and religion. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in a recent interview with IRNA, emphasized Pakistan’s support for diplomacy and de-escalation in the region, noting close coordination with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi. This follows Pakistan’s backing of Iran during its recent conflict with Israel, as expressed at international forums like the United Nations Security Council. Pezeshkian’s trip comes amid regional tensions, with the president dismissing U.S. claims about Iran’s nuclear program as a “political hoax” in an Arab media interview, reaffirming Iran’s non-nuclear stance.

The visit, concluding on August 3, aims to solidify economic and strategic partnerships. Further details can be accessed via www.mofa.gov.pk or www.irna.ir, reflecting both nations’ focus on practical diplomacy to address mutual interests and regional stability.
