Islamabad Lawmakers Back CDA Plan for Civic Upgrades

Lawmakers representing Islamabad have pledged their full support for the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) initiatives aimed at improving civic services and infrastructure across the federal capital, with a focus on both urban and rural areas.

The commitment came during a recent meeting between parliamentarians and CDA officials, where participants discussed key development priorities for the city. These included beautification projects, expansion of public transport services, and measures to ensure the provision of clean drinking water to underserved communities.

Lawmakers highlighted the need for balanced development across Islamabad’s sectors and surrounding villages, pointing out that rural areas have historically lagged in access to basic facilities. They urged the CDA to address these disparities through targeted infrastructure projects and service improvements.

CDA representatives briefed the gathering on ongoing and planned works. These include accelerated road repairs, sewerage system upgrades, and the creation of more green spaces to enhance the city’s environment. The authority also outlined its efforts to digitise public services, a move designed to increase efficiency and reduce the inconvenience faced by citizens in accessing official processes.

In a bid to ensure accountability and timely project delivery, both sides agreed to establish a monitoring framework. This mechanism will track progress, identify bottlenecks, and maintain transparency throughout the implementation phase.

Parliamentarians assured the CDA of their continued cooperation, noting that regular updates should be shared with the public to maintain trust and demonstrate progress. They also encouraged closer engagement with local communities to ensure development projects align with the needs of residents.

The CDA reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth for Islamabad, emphasising that both urban centres and peripheral rural areas stand to benefit from these initiatives. With parliamentary backing and a structured oversight plan, the authority aims to deliver tangible improvements in public services and infrastructure, enhancing the quality of life for all residents of the capital.

The joint stance of lawmakers and the CDA signals a coordinated approach to tackling Islamabad’s civic and infrastructure challenges. By combining legislative support with administrative action, the city’s leadership hopes to set a precedent for effective governance and long-term urban planning in Pakistan’s capital.
