A parliamentary sub-committee has raised concerns over persistent delays and unresolved issues within the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), particularly about land sharing, built-up property (BUP) compensation, and slow project execution in multiple Islamabad sectors.

During a meeting held on Wednesday, the Sub-Committee of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Housing and Works was briefed by FGEHA officials on the status of ongoing housing projects. The Director (Land) of the Authority outlined several challenges, including pending payments for land acquisition and unresolved BUP claims in sectors G-14/1, G-15/3, and F-14/F-15.

Committee members expressed dissatisfaction over the prolonged delays and urged the FGEHA to expedite a comprehensive survey of the affected sectors. The purpose of the survey would be to address grievances of landowners and BUP claimants, ensuring that legitimate concerns are dealt with in a timely and transparent manner.

The meeting, chaired by MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan, acknowledged the operational difficulties faced by FGEHA and extended its support to the Authority in resolving the bottlenecks. The committee emphasized the importance of meeting deadlines to restore confidence among all stakeholders, including allottees and landowners.

Members of the sub-committee, including MNAs Mehboob Shah and Ibrar Ahmad, participated in the discussions and echoed calls for greater accountability in the handling of housing schemes managed by FGEHA.

Senior representatives from the Ministry of Housing and Works and FGEHA attended the session. These included Additional Secretary Muhammad Ashfaq Ghumman and FGEHA Director General Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, along with other key officials from the land, technical, finance, and administrative departments.

The committee directed the Authority to maintain clear communication with claimants and ensure all issues are resolved according to legal and procedural standards. Officials were also instructed to submit regular progress updates to the committee.

The FGEHA, responsible for housing initiatives aimed at federal government employees, has faced ongoing scrutiny for delays in delivery and disputes related to compensation. The committee’s latest review aims to streamline processes and ensure equitable outcomes for all parties involved.
