JUI-F Chief to Consult Allies for KP All Parties Conference

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), announced plans to consult allies for an All Parties Conference (APC) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to address the province’s worsening security and governance crises. Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar on July 12, 2025, Fazl criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led KP government as a “fake majority” and urged internal reform to stabilize the region. His call for unity comes amid rising terrorism and public discontent.

Fazl emphasized that KP cannot endure further political chaos, highlighting the PTI’s failure to deliver, as reported by Dawn.com. “The province is sinking into lawlessness,” he told reporters, citing recent violence, including the assassination of a scholar in Bajaur. He condemned armed groups as un-Islamic and proposed dialogue with PTI, but only if they reform their approach. “We want talks based on mutual respect,” he said, per Daily Times, noting that JUI-F’s past governance brought relative peace. Fazl also criticized the federal government’s inaction, distancing himself from their policies and alleging electoral rigging in both federal and provincial setups.

The JUI-F chief reignited debate over the 2018 merger of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with KP, calling it a flawed decision made without tribal consent. “All parties must admit the merger was a mistake,” he stated, announcing a grand tribal jirga on July 13 to discuss FATA’s future, per Geo News. He questioned the federal committee’s lack of Pakhtun representation, asking, “How many members are from the province?” Fazl also slammed KP’s budget misuse, telling The Express Tribune, “Funds are wasted on luxuries like parliamentary secretaries.”

Fazl’s push for an APC reflects a desperate need for consensus to tackle KP’s spiraling violence and economic stagnation. The Labor government’s failure to address these issues has only deepened distrust. As Fazl consults allies, his call for internal PTI change and tribal inclusion demands urgent action to restore stability and public faith in governance.
