Karachi Court Releases 12 PTI Protesters on Bail

The judicial magistrate for District East approved the bail petitions submitted by the defence and ordered the release of all accused upon furnishing surety bonds worth Rs5,000 each.

Earlier, the suspects were brought before the court by local police, who requested their physical remand for further interrogation. However, the magistrate declined the request and allowed their release.

According to the investigating officer (IO), the protest took place near Hassan Square and was led by senior PTI leaders, including Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Awab Alvi, and Raja Azhar. The officer claimed that PTI supporters blocked the road, and the rally escalated into violence when participants reportedly threw stones at law enforcement officers and attacked them with sticks.

One police officer, identified as Aijaz, was injured during the clash.

The individuals granted bail were named as Nadir, Abdul Rafi, Sarfraz Jameel, Fida Rehman, Nabi Ahmad, Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Ibrahim, Younus Khan, Zar Wali, Muhammad Hanif, Sohail Ahmad Memon, and Adnan.

The court’s decision followed standard legal procedure, as no further evidence or grounds were presented to justify physical remand.

Following the court’s ruling, PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh visited the City Court to express solidarity with the released party workers.

The protest was part of a broader political demonstration by PTI, reflecting growing tensions between party supporters and law enforcement in the city.
