Karachi Police Rescue Abducted Girl, Arrest Relative

KARACHI – In a swift and sensitive operation, Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police recovered a three-year-old girl, Rehana, who was abducted from Shah Nawaz Bhutto Colony on July 23. Authorities have arrested a suspect who was later identified as a close relative of the child.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) District Central, the suspect confessed to kidnapping the child with the intention of demanding ransom from her parents. The motive behind the abduction, the suspect revealed during questioning, was to obtain funds to secure the bail of his brother, who is currently held at a local jail following an arrest by Manghopir police.

The abduction had raised alarm in the community, prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement. Officers launched a targeted search operation and managed to locate the child within 48 hours. Officials emphasized that the rescue was carried out with “extreme sensitivity and professionalism” to ensure the child’s safety and prevent any harm.

“The priority was to recover the child unharmed and apprehend the suspect without escalating the situation,” an officer involved in the case stated.

The successful operation concluded with Rehana being safely reunited with her parents. Emotional scenes unfolded as the family thanked the police for their prompt action and care. Residents of Shah Nawaz Bhutto Colony also praised the swift response by local authorities, calling it a relief for the entire community.

Police have not yet disclosed further details about the exact location where the child was held during the abduction. However, officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing and additional arrests may follow as the case develops.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be formally charged following the completion of the initial inquiry. Law enforcement agencies are also examining whether other individuals may have been involved in the planning or execution of the kidnapping.
