A disturbing case has surfaced in Karachi, where a group allegedly exploited minors by addicting them to drugs and coercing them into committing robberies.

Sachal police arrested Ghulam Muhammad Ali, reportedly the ringleader of a teenage gang that recruited underage individuals by exposing them to hashish and crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as “ice”). According to police, the drugs were used as a tool to manipulate the youths into carrying out criminal acts on behalf of the gang.

Three of the accused accomplices identified as Rizwan, Azhar, and Yaseen were also detained during a police operation near Ghazi Goth, located in Scheme 33 of Karachi. Law enforcement recovered a loaded pistol, a quantity of hashish, mobile phones, cash, and a motorcycle from the suspects at the time of the arrest.

Speaking to local media, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sachal Police stated that the main suspect, Ghulam Muhammad Ali, specifically targeted vulnerable minors, got them addicted to narcotics, and then directed them to commit street crimes, including robberies. The operation uncovered a troubling connection between rising drug use and juvenile involvement in crime.

A case has been registered against the four suspects under the Sindh Arms Act, and investigations are ongoing to determine if more individuals or victims are involved in the criminal network. Authorities are also trying to identify additional minors who may have been exploited.

The incident has raised concerns about the increasing intersection of drug abuse and youth crime in Karachi’s urban areas. Community leaders and law enforcement are urging for stronger awareness campaigns and early intervention programs to prevent vulnerable children from falling prey to such exploitation.

As part of their follow-up actions, police are expanding the investigation to determine the source of the narcotics and any larger networks behind the supply and distribution of these substances.

Karachi police continue to emphasize the importance of public cooperation in identifying criminal groups that target youth for illicit activities. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior or illegal drug activity in their neighborhoods.
