Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) marked Accession to Pakistan Day on July 19, 2025, reaffirming their historic 1947 pledge to join Pakistan and their ongoing struggle for self-determination against Indian occupation. The day, rooted in a unanimous resolution by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (AJKMC), saw rallies and ceremonies across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and beyond, reflecting Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri cause.

On July 19, 1947, Kashmiri leaders, gathered at Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan’s residence in Srinagar, passed a resolution to accede to Pakistan, driven by shared religious, cultural, and geographic ties. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement reported by Arab News, called it a “symbol of the brave Kashmiri people’s desire to join Pakistan,” emphasizing that a peaceful resolution per United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions is vital for regional stability. Despite India’s alleged repression, including over 96,000 deaths since 1989 per Kashmir Media Service, the Kashmiri spirit remains unbroken, with the third generation carrying forward the fight.

In Muzaffarabad, a ceremony at Khurshed National Library drew ministers and political leaders, who honored Kashmiri martyrs. Azad Kashmir’s President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry declared, “India has no legitimate claim to Kashmir,” per Pakistan Today, underscoring the 1947 resolution’s enduring significance. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called the day a “bright chapter in history,” saluting martyrs who valued their bond with Pakistan over life itself, as reported by Associated Press of Pakistan. Posters in Srinagar reaffirmed this commitment, urging global action to resolve the dispute.
