Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has strongly condemned what he described as the theft of his party’s electoral mandate and vowed to continue PTI’s political struggle despite the change of government at the federal level.

Speaking as the sitting Chief Minister, Gandapur characterized the current political situation as a “battle for Pakistan and for freedom,” emphasising that PTI will persist in its efforts “until our last breath.” He alleged that elected representatives are being unjustly disqualified, depriving them of their constitutional rights, and criticised what he termed a “borrowed mandate” imposed on the nation through manipulations involving Form 47.

Gandapur claimed that corruption from previous governments is being weaponised against PTI and referred to the Kohistan scandal, stating it is a federal matter but is being wrongly blamed on the provincial government.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, the Chief Minister said that over the past 17 months, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had generated more than Rs250 billion in revenue, setting a new record for the province. He noted that when his government took office, the province was burdened with significant debt and salary payment issues but has since been placed on a path toward development.

To address fiscal challenges, the provincial government has established an endowment fund of Rs190 billion aimed at debt repayment, with a target to increase this to Rs300 billion. Gandapur described Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as an example of transparency, service, and progress in Pakistan.

On security, he emphasised the government’s focus on eradicating terrorism and restoring public confidence. He announced plans to expand the role of traditional Jirgas (tribal councils) to incorporate public opinion decisively in governance and law and order matters.

Gandapur reiterated that the sacrifices of police and army personnel who lost their lives in the fight against terrorism would not be forgotten. He warned of ongoing activities by “state-opposing forces” and promised that the government would not back down in the face of challenges.

His remarks followed the conclusion of a series of regional consultative Jirgas on law and order. The gatherings, hosted at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, were attended by tribal elders from Upper, Central, and Lower Kurram, political party representatives, and members of both the provincial and national assemblies. Senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and relevant commissioners and deputy commissioners, also took part.

Participants praised the Chief Minister for engaging tribal elders to promote peace and for addressing the Kurram issue through peaceful means. They also commended the provincial government’s initiatives, such as a special development package for the region, emergency helicopter services during crises, and continued support for local communities.
