Flanked by escalating tensions and the threat of a possible military operation, Mamond tehsil in Bajaur district continues to see mass movement, with hundreds of families seeking safer grounds elsewhere. Local administration officials report the unrest remains unresolved and volatile.

In response, authorities have mandated the removal of maize planted within 100 metres of roadside areas. Farmers have received a strict three-day deadline to complete harvesting. Officials say this measure is a precautionary effort intended to reduce potential security risks in the region.

These steps coincide with the recently concluded seventh round of the Bajaur Peace Jirga, which failed to bridge differences between disputing parties. A stalemate over a contested clause has impeded progress. Peace Jirga member Sahibzada Haroonur Rasheed noted that, despite the impasse, continued dialogue remains essential. He emphasised that both sides have promised that civilians will not be targeted amid any conflict.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has responded by summoning Jirga members to his residence in Peshawar to expedite resolution efforts. The move reflects determination from the provincial government to restore calm to the troubled area.

This mounting humanitarian shift highlights the fragility of security in Bajaur’s border regions. The forced displacement of families not only strains local resources but also underscores the broader risk environment.
