NADRA Eases Succession Certificate Process Across Pakistan

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has simplified the process for acquiring Succession Certificates, allowing legal heirs to apply from anywhere in Pakistan, according to a recent notification reported by the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Previously, applicants were required to initiate the process in the province where the inherited property was located. This often created difficulties for heirs residing in other regions. With the updated procedure, NADRA has removed these provincial restrictions, significantly improving accessibility for families managing inheritance claims.

Legal heirs can now submit applications at any of the 186 Succession Facilitation Units (SFUs) established nationwide. These units are available at NADRA centres across Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, regardless of the location of the inherited assets.

In addition to geographic flexibility, the biometric verification process has also been enhanced. Heirs can complete the biometric requirements either at their nearest NADRA centre or remotely through the Pak ID Mobile App. This added option aims to further reduce the burden on applicants, particularly those living in remote areas or abroad.

A NADRA spokesperson confirmed that all SFU-equipped centres have received official instructions to implement the revised protocol, ensuring that applicants can complete the entire process at their convenience.

The improved system is part of NADRA’s broader efforts to modernise public services and improve access to legal documentation for Pakistani citizens.
