July 22, 2025 | Karachi, Pakistan — The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has inaugurated three new 24/7 National Registration Centres in Karachi, aiming to enhance citizens’ access to vital identity services. Located in Malir Cantt, Malir, and Surjani Town, these centres mark a major step forward in streamlining Pakistan’s identity registration system.

The new round-the-clock centres are designed to ease the load on existing offices and accommodate Karachi’s growing population. According to NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali, this launch represents the most significant reform since 2002, focused on reducing waiting times, preventing fraud, and improving service quality.

These reforms are expected to improve public confidence by making identity services more accessible, secure, and efficient. The new centres also tackle longstanding challenges related to child registration and identity fraud, ensuring more reliable national databases.

While these changes mark progress, maintaining consistent service quality, especially outside major urban centres, remains a priority. NADRA’s efforts to leverage technology and decentralize services may serve as a model for further public service modernization across Pakistan.
