Nazir Qureshi Asserts: A Stronger Pakistan Key to Kashmir’s Liberation

A robust and united Pakistan is essential for advancing the cause of freedom in Jammu and Kashmir, according to Nazir Qureshi, a noted political analyst and Kashmir activist. In his latest remarks during a seminar on regional stability, Qureshi highlighted the undeniable link between national strength and the global credibility required to support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. His statement comes amid rising regional tensions and growing concern over the lack of progress on the Kashmir issue.

Qureshi underscored that only a politically stable, economically sound and diplomatically assertive Pakistan can effectively champion the Kashmiri cause on the international stage. “Pakistan’s internal cohesion is not just a national priority, it is a strategic necessity for Kashmir,” he said. He called on policymakers to prioritise economic reforms, national unity and defence preparedness to ensure that Pakistan remains resilient in the face of Indian aggression and global indifference. According to Qureshi, the people of Kashmir look to Pakistan for more than just symbolic support; they need a strong ally that can influence global discourse and policy.

The seminar, attended by diplomats, scholars and civil society members, also discussed India’s ongoing revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and its implications on human rights in the region. Speakers criticised the international community for its passive stance, while urging Pakistan to adopt a more assertive foreign policy that aligns with its constitutional and moral responsibility toward Kashmir. Many echoed Qureshi’s views that without internal strength, Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach will continue to fall short of achieving tangible outcomes.

Concluding his address, Qureshi issued a powerful reminder: “Kashmir’s freedom will not be won by rhetoric alone. It will come when Pakistan is strong enough to demand it, not plead for it.” His message struck a chord with attendees and reignited a conversation that has long simmered beneath the surface. As the geopolitical landscape evolves and new alliances take shape, Pakistan must reassess its internal priorities to ensure it remains a credible voice for the Kashmiri people. Strength at home, according to Qureshi, is the first and most crucial step toward justice in Kashmir, a goal that remains as vital today as ever.
