Neglect Turns Federal Capital Area into a Cesspool

Residents of the Federal Capital Area are raising alarm over the worsening condition of their neighborhoods, blaming government inaction and poor maintenance for a surge in sanitation and infrastructure issues.

Once regarded as a symbol of pride and order, the Federal Capital Area is now grappling with visible signs of neglect. Overflowing garbage, stagnant water, and crumbling infrastructure have become common sights clear indicators of an administration that has turned a blind eye to the needs of its citizens.

From clogged drains to uncollected waste, the daily lives of residents have been severely affected. Basic municipal services such as waste management and drainage maintenance are lacking, leaving entire communities in disrepair. Locals report frequent foul odors, mosquito infestations, and rising health concerns all tied to the poor environmental upkeep.

Despite repeated complaints and appeals from community members and local leaders, authorities have largely failed to respond. The continued silence has not only deepened public frustration but also raised serious questions about the priorities and accountability of those in charge.

The decline extends beyond sanitation. Damaged roads, non-functioning streetlights, and unchecked construction have further eroded the quality of life. Many believe that while new development projects are often showcased, long-established neighborhoods are being ignored and left to deteriorate.

Public health risks are mounting. Doctors in the area report a noticeable increase in waterborne diseases and respiratory issues directly linked to unsanitary living conditions. Yet, there has been no sign of urgent or coordinated government action.

Civic activists are now demanding immediate intervention. They call for a structured response plan that includes improved inter-agency coordination, regular waste collection, and community-based monitoring. Without such steps, they warn, the situation could escalate into a full-blown public health emergency.

The Federal Capital Area deserves better. As the administrative heart of the nation, its condition should reflect the government’s commitment to quality of life and civic responsibility. Instead, it stands as a stark reminder of neglect and eroding public trust.

Unless authorities act swiftly to restore basic services and heed the voices of their citizens, the area’s transformation from a model capital into a neglected zone will remain a lasting symbol of failed governance.
