Pakistan and Bahrain Strengthen Ties to Combat Terrorism and Human Trafficking

On July 12, 2025, Pakistan and Bahrain vowed to deepen their security partnership, focusing on counterterrorism, anti-human trafficking, and narcotics control, as Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Bahraini counterpart, General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in Manama. This historic visit underscores a shared commitment to tackling transnational threats through enhanced cooperation, signaling a robust stance against crime and extremism.

The meeting, held at the Bahrain Interior Ministry headquarters in Manama Fort, marked a significant step in bolstering bilateral ties. Naqvi, warmly welcomed with a guard of honor, emphasized the urgent need to combat drug trafficking and human smuggling, declaring it “the need of the hour.” General Al Khalifa echoed this sentiment, praising Pakistan’s efforts and describing the existing coordination as “valued and constructive.” Both nations agreed to enhance the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Security Committee, a key mechanism for coordinating on counterterrorism and related issues, to address regional and global security challenges effectively. This collaboration builds on decades of diplomatic relations established in 1971, rooted in shared cultural and religious values.

Pakistan and Bahrain’s resolve reflects a broader regional imperative to confront rising threats. Human trafficking, often linked to organized crime, exploits vulnerable populations, while narcotics smuggling fuels instability. The ministers’ discussions highlighted intelligence sharing and law enforcement collaboration as critical tools. Naqvi extended an invitation to Al Khalifa to visit Islamabad, signaling ongoing commitment to this partnership. The Bahraini minister’s appreciation for Pakistan’s role in regional stability underscores the mutual trust driving this alliance.

This strengthened cooperation sends a clear message: Pakistan and Bahrain are united in their fight against terrorism and trafficking. By prioritizing security and regional stability, both nations are setting a precedent for proactive, principled governance. The presence of senior officials, including Pakistan’s Ambassador Saqib Rauf, at the meeting reinforces the strategic importance of this partnership. As Naqvi signed the visitors’ book at Manama Fort, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to peace and stability, a commitment that resonates with those who value strong, decisive action against global threats.
