Pakistan, Oman Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Omani Ambassador Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Alkharusi met with President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Oman.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, and diplomatic engagement. Both Pakistan and Oman expressed interest in deepening their longstanding relationship, which is rooted in shared religion, culture, and historical ties.

During the discussion, President Zardari highlighted the importance of fostering closer collaboration between the two countries, particularly through increased high-level visits and regular dialogue. He conveyed Oman’s readiness to further explore partnerships in areas of mutual interest, including manpower, trade logistics, and cultural exchange.

Both parties also discussed the regional situation and matters of common concern, underscoring the need for continued coordination on issues affecting the wider Gulf and South Asian regions. The ambassador reaffirmed Oman’s respect for Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.

The visit was marked by a strong reaffirmation of the historical and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Oman, which have seen consistent collaboration across diplomatic and economic fronts. The two countries maintain regular diplomatic exchanges and share a deep cultural and religious affinity.

President Zardari conveyed his best wishes to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said and the people of Oman, expressing confidence that the two nations would continue to build on their positive relationship in the years ahead.
