Pakistan’s leadership and armed forces marked Youm-e-Istehsal on August 5, 2025, condemning India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and pledging unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

On August 5, 2025, Pakistan observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, marking six years since India revoked Article 370 of its Constitution on August 5, 2019, stripping Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) of its special status and dividing it into two union territories. Pakistan’s civil and military leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, condemned India’s actions as a violation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and international law, reaffirming solidarity with the Kashmiri people, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR statement, echoed by posts on X, highlighted the Pakistan Armed Forces’ support for the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination, emphasizing that India’s military lockdown, human rights abuses, and attempts to alter IIOJK’s demographic structure breach international norms. Prime Minister Sharif, addressing the nation, stated that resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He urged the international community to press India to reverse its 2019 actions, end human rights violations, and implement UNSC resolutions, as reported by Geo News. Sharif noted the resilience of Kashmiris, including jailed leaders like Shabbir Ahmed Shah, despite India’s oppressive measures.

President Asif Ali Zardari called Youm-e-Istehsal a reminder of India’s rejection of peace, stating that the occupation, marked by state terrorism, fuels regional instability. He stressed that a just resolution, aligned with Kashmiri aspirations and UNSC resolutions, is essential for South Asian peace, per The News International. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a solidarity walk in Islamabad, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, where participants received a memento depicting India’s human rights violations in IIOJK, according to the ministry’s official statement.

Nationwide, Pakistan held rallies, seminars, and a one-minute silence at 10:00 AM to honor Kashmiri sacrifices, as notified by the Cabinet Division. The armed forces, including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and service chiefs, reiterated their commitment to supporting Kashmiris against India’s actions, which they described as a threat to regional stability, per Pakistan Today.
