KARACHI, An unconfirmed report has emerged regarding the death of a man allegedly shot while in police custody at Paposh Nagar Police Station. The man, identified in unverified accounts as Abbas, was reportedly 30 years old and a resident of the Chandni Chowk area. Official police sources have yet to confirm any such incident.

According to circulating but unverified claims, Abbas had been detained by police on Tuesday night on suspicion of possessing crystal methamphetamine, commonly referred to as “ice.” Some reports suggest he was handed over to the investigation wing for further questioning following his arrest. However, there are no official records or public statements by Sindh Police corroborating these details.

Unofficial accounts allege that Abbas attempted to flee from custody while being moved within the police station premises. Two officers, reportedly identified as Constables Izharul Haq and Khadim Hussain, were said to have pursued him. During the chase, a struggle reportedly ensued near a railway bridge adjacent to the station. It was during this alleged struggle that Abbas was said to have tried to grab a police weapon, resulting in a gun discharging and causing a fatal injury to his neck.

None of these claims have been independently verified, and no First Information Report (FIR) has been made publicly available. Furthermore, the alleged hospital where Abbas was taken—Abbasi Shaheed Hospital—has not issued any public statement regarding a patient matching his name or the described circumstances of death.

To date, no official inquiry has been acknowledged by law enforcement authorities, and no confirmation has been made regarding any disciplinary action against the officers named in the claims. There are also no verified statements from witnesses, medical personnel, or human rights organizations regarding the incident.

While social media users have shared the unverified narrative, caution is advised. Human rights advocates have frequently called for greater transparency and accountability in police operations, especially in cases involving detainee treatment. However, no formal commentary from recognized organizations such as the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has been made in relation to this particular case.

As of now, the incident remains unconfirmed. Official sources have not released any statements or evidence supporting the version of events shared online. Further investigation and reliable documentation are required before drawing any conclusions about the nature or legitimacy of the incident.
