A Karachi judicial magistrate has granted physical remand of four suspects, including a station house officer (SHO) and assistant sub-inspector (ASI), in connection with a shocking custodial death at Shah Latif police station. The case involves allegations of murder, evidence tampering, and obstruction of justice, raising serious questions about police conduct in Pakistan’s largest city.

According to the investigation officer, the incident began when two civilians, Atif and Shahzaib, brought a robbery suspect to the police station. During questioning, Atif allegedly opened fire inside the premises, killing the accused. More disturbingly, SHO Sadruddin Mirani and ASI Saleem Mughal stand accused of attempting to cover up the crime by deleting CCTV footage and cleaning the crime scene.
