LAHORE — Four suspects, including the alleged main planner in the high-profile Chung gang-rape case, were killed during separate police operations carried out by the Crime Control Department (CCD) across Punjab.

Police sources reported that CCD Model Town teams conducted a targeted raid in Kasur to apprehend Imran, accused of orchestrating the Chung gang-rape. A shootout broke out during the operation, and Imran was fatally shot, reportedly by gunfire from his accomplices. Inspector Shahid, leading the operation, was unharmed thanks to his bulletproof vest, although the police vehicle sustained significant damage. Earlier, three of Imran’s alleged accomplices, Owais, Zahid, and Irshad, had been killed in separate encounters with CCD units.

In a second operation in Lahore’s Green Town area, police were escorting a suspect named Babar Ali to assist in a recovery mission when unidentified gunmen attacked the convoy. Babar was critically injured during the ensuing exchange of fire and later died while being transported to a hospital. Authorities said Babar was wanted in several cases, including murder, armed robbery, and attacks on law enforcement personnel.

A third incident occurred in the Kahna area, where CCD officers were conducting a location identification operation involving a suspect named Nazir. During the mission, the police convoy came under fire from unidentified assailants. Nazir was killed in the gunfight, with police alleging he was involved in multiple violent crimes across Punjab.

The final encounter took place in Sanda locality, where CCD personnel from Iqbal Town were transporting Salman Khalid, a suspect linked to several street crimes and robberies. As the team approached their destination, two unidentified individuals opened fire from the roadside. Salman was fatally wounded during the exchange of fire.

All four incidents are currently under investigation. Police described the operations as part of an ongoing crackdown on violent repeat offenders across the province. Authorities have not identified the attackers involved in the ambushes and continue to pursue leads to clarify the circumstances of each event.
