In a major breakthrough against international fugitives, authorities in Sargodha Division have successfully brought back 17 individuals wanted in serious criminal cases through Red Warrants, with another 128 traced abroad and awaiting extradition.

The operation is part of a coordinated crackdown spearheaded by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dr. Shehzad Asif Khan. The campaign focuses on tracking down absconders hiding overseas, especially those accused in murder cases registered under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The initiative has received strong support from the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Interpol. Operational efforts were facilitated by the Special Operations Cell of the Sargodha Division, which played a key role in monitoring and locating the fugitives internationally.

One of the most significant arrests so far is that of Nawazish Ali Hanjra, also known as Phallu, who had been declared a proclaimed offender. He was arrested in Spain with the assistance of Interpol, and legal procedures for his extradition are currently in progress.

According to police officials, these Red Warrants target individuals who have managed to flee Pakistan while facing serious criminal charges, including homicide. The success of these operations is viewed as a critical step toward enforcing accountability and justice.

RPO Dr. Khan, commenting on the development, stated: “No criminal, no matter how clever or distant, can escape justice. We are committed to bringing every fugitive back to face the law.”

Among the cases highlighted is the murder of Muhammad Waris Khan in Khuduzai, Mianwali, which occurred on November 6, 2024. Police say this case is among several high-profile investigations in which suspects fled abroad but are now being actively pursued under international cooperation frameworks.

Police sources also revealed that extensive coordination with Interpol and foreign governments has improved the tracking of absconders using immigration records and surveillance data. The FIA’s involvement has been crucial in verifying identities and managing legal formalities for repatriation.

Authorities remain optimistic that the remaining 128 fugitives traced abroad will soon be brought back to face the justice system in Pakistan.

The ongoing crackdown is part of broader efforts to strengthen rule of law and ensure that serious offenders cannot evade prosecution by fleeing the country.
