Sindh CM Consults Celebrities on Independence Day Plans

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over a high-level meeting to finalize preparations for Pakistan’s upcoming Independence Day celebrations. The event will be celebrated under the theme “Marqa-e-Haq,” highlighting the country’s historical struggle for justice and independence.

The meeting was attended by several provincial ministers, including Sharjeel Inam Memon, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, and Zulfiqar Shah. Senior officials present included Secretary to the Chief Minister Raheem Shaikh, Secretary General Administration Mohammad Ali Khoso, Secretary Information, and Secretary Culture Khair Mohammad.

Prominent personalities from various sectors of society were also invited to contribute to the planning of the celebrations. Among them were social worker Faisal Edhi, squash legend Jahangir Khan, former cricketers Moin Khan and Younis Khan, sprinter Naseem Hameed, actors Mustafa Qureshi, Munawar Saeed, and Ahmad Shah, along with veteran journalist Ghazi Salahuddin.

Chief Minister Shah emphasized that this year’s Independence Day is not only a celebration of freedom but also a reminder of the nation’s resilience in the face of adversity. He described the event as an opportunity to promote national unity and honor the country’s enduring fight for justice. The Chief Minister noted that involving cultural and sports figures is intended to strengthen public engagement and reinforce a collective sense of patriotism.

During the meeting, Shah announced that the province will hold 14 days of celebrations, from August 1 to August 14. The schedule will include a variety of activities such as concerts, fireworks displays, art exhibitions, sporting events, and cultural performances. Events will take place across major cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur.

One of the main highlights will be a fireworks show at the National Stadium on the night of August 13, along with street decoration competitions, women’s cycling rallies, float parades, and cricket matches. Other planned events include boat races, painting contests, dinkey cart races, and public flag formations designed to foster inclusion and civic pride.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of ensuring that celebrations are inclusive, with specific programming for women and persons with disabilities. Over 160 events have been scheduled throughout the province to reach a broad segment of the population.

The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to ensure that this year’s Independence Day celebrations reflect the spirit of national pride, cultural diversity, and public unity.
