KARACHI – Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening the media industry, highlighting it as a top policy priority during a luncheon held in honour of journalists from the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).

The event, hosted at a local hotel, brought together key members of the media community, where Minister Sharjeel emphasised the importance of press freedom and the role of journalists in a democratic society.

“Our government stands firmly behind the protection and welfare of journalists,” Memon stated. “We have always promoted a media-friendly environment and continue to support the growth and sustainability of Pakistan’s media sector.”

Highlighting policy measures, the minister said that the Sindh government is committed to ensuring the implementation of the minimum wage law in media organisations. “Journalists deserve fair compensation and workplace security. It is our duty to uphold these standards across the province,” he added.

The PFUJ delegation welcomed the minister’s remarks and acknowledged the efforts being made to address long-standing issues within the sector.

Sharjeel also spoke about broader national developments, noting improvements in the country’s global image. He commented that the Pakistani passport is now viewed with increased respect internationally and that this change reflects the government’s wider progress on diplomatic and domestic fronts.

“We are moving forward. Pakistan is regaining its dignity globally, and this is something all citizens can take pride in,” he said.

The event concluded with an agreement to maintain open dialogue between the media fraternity and the Sindh government to ensure mutual understanding and further policy advancement.
