A key suspect in the horrific kidnapping and killing of 14-year-old Musawir Kakar was shot and killed during an encounter with police in Quetta, according to officials. Law enforcement also arrested another individual believed to be directly involved in the crime. The case has sparked outrage and raised renewed concerns about border security and foreign criminal elements operating inside Pakistan.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya, speaking alongside Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, identified the deceased suspect as Younis. He was killed during a confrontation with police forces earlier this week. Another man, identified as Hasham, an Afghan national, was taken into custody and is currently being held under police detention.

According to authorities, Hasham played a key role in planning and executing the kidnapping of young Musawir Kakar. The DIG revealed that Hasham transported the getaway vehicle from Afghanistan and obtained the weapons used in the operation from the town of Gulistan. Before the abduction, he allegedly conducted surveillance on both the victim’s home and family-owned shop.

The security operation also resulted in the recovery of both the vehicle used during the kidnapping and the weapons involved. DIG Goraya confirmed that Hasham has been formally presented before a court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.

While the loss of young Musawir is a tragic reminder of the rising tide of violent crime, the case has also reignited long-standing concerns about the unchecked movement of foreign nationals across Pakistan’s porous borders. The involvement of an Afghan national in such a heinous crime has led many to question the effectiveness of current immigration and border enforcement policies, particularly under the current government.

Balochistan, already a volatile region, has increasingly become a ground zero for cross-border criminal activity and terror networks. Critics argue that the government’s reluctance to take firm action on illegal immigration has compromised public safety and undermined local law enforcement efforts.

As the investigation continues, public demands for stricter immigration controls and improved internal security measures are growing louder. For the residents of Quetta and beyond, justice for Musawir Kakar is only one piece of a much larger issue, ensuring that such tragedies do not become the new normal.
