Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar dismisses Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s claims of disintegration as baseless falsehoods, highlighting Pakistan’s economic progress.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has sharply rejected the narrative of a fractured Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling it a “pack of lies” during a press conference on August 1, 2025. Tarar accused the opposition party of spreading deceit to undermine Pakistan’s recent economic achievements, as reported by Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

Addressing PTI’s claims, Tarar argued that their narrative lacks grounding in reality, driven by frustration over Pakistan’s improving economic indicators under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership. He pointed to a current account surplus, rising foreign exchange reserves, and declining inflation and petrol prices as evidence of progress, per APP. Tarar suggested that PTI’s rhetoric stems from their inability to accept the nation’s economic recovery, including increased Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and a booming stock market, which reflect growing investor confidence, according to The News International.

Tarar further criticized PTI for their history of aligning with entities hostile to Pakistan’s interests, referencing the May 9, 2023, riots where PTI supporters allegedly vandalized state installations. He cited video evidence of these acts, as reported by Dawn, and dismissed PTI’s accusations of unfair trials as baseless, noting that legal proceedings followed concrete evidence. Tarar also called out PTI leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, urging him to disclose his assets publicly to counter claims of corruption, per APP.

The minister contrasted PTI’s tenure, which he claimed left Pakistan diplomatically isolated, with the current government’s foreign policy successes. Analyst Talat Hussain, quoted by Geo News, noted that PTI’s narrative often exploits public discontent but lacks substantive evidence, risking further erosion of their credibility. Tarar emphasized that Pakistan’s economic trajectory, bolstered by policies from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has silenced detractors betting on the country’s default. The government remains focused on sustaining growth, with Prime Minister Sharif’s recent initiatives drawing international praise, per The Express Tribune.

Tarar’s remarks underscore a deepening political divide, with PTI’s claims failing to sway public confidence in the government’s economic agenda.
