Pakistan Demands Unconditional Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid for Palestinians

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, addressed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) during an open debate on the Middle East, urging an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. He called for unrestricted humanitarian access, the protection of civilians and aid workers, and full implementation of UNSC Resolution 2735, which emphasizes the need for aid delivery and civilian protection.

Dar described the situation in Gaza as “a graveyard for innocent lives and international law.” He cited the deaths of over 58,000 Palestinians, primarily women and children, and warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis in which millions face severe food insecurity and malnutrition. Aid organizations have reported extreme difficulty in delivering assistance due to ongoing hostilities and access restrictions.

Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the two-state solution, calling for a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital. He emphasized the need to halt illegal settlement activity in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, end forced displacements, and renew support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

Pakistan’s statement reflected growing frustration with the UNSC’s inability to enforce its own resolutions, largely due to the use of veto power. Dar criticized the failure of international mechanisms to prevent civilian casualties and called for an Arab and OIC-led reconstruction initiative to rebuild Gaza. He underscored that without decisive international action, humanitarian suffering will continue, and diplomatic efforts will remain ineffective.

This address marks Pakistan’s continued advocacy for Palestinian rights and international accountability, urging the global community to uphold humanitarian law and work toward lasting peace in the region.
