On July 25, 2025, Chinese leaders praised Pakistan’s vital role in fostering regional stability during Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir’s visit to Beijing. Engaging with top officials including Vice President Han Zheng and senior People’s Liberation Army (PLA) commanders, Munir strengthened the Pakistan-China strategic partnership, focusing on defence, counterterrorism, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Welcomed with a guard of honour at PLA Headquarters, Munir held high-level talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and General Zhang Youxia of the Central Military Commission (CMC). The discussions underscored Pakistan’s steadfast efforts against terrorism and its protection of CPEC projects. “Pakistan’s sacrifices for peace are unparalleled,” Wang Yi remarked, as reported by Dawn, highlighting Islamabad’s role in securing Chinese investments and personnel. Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the bilateral alliance, emphasizing CPEC’s role in driving economic progress.

Chinese leadership hailed Pakistan’s armed forces as a pillar of regional stability, particularly in countering threats in South Asia. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) noted that the talks explored deeper military cooperation, including joint exercises and intelligence sharing to address transnational challenges. CPEC, a key component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), was central to discussions, with both sides aiming to expedite infrastructure projects and enhance security measures.

With regional tensions persisting, especially along Pakistan’s borders, China’s endorsement strengthens Pakistan’s strategic position. Munir’s discussions with PLA General Li Qiaoming focused on defence modernization to counter hybrid threats. “Pakistan and China stand firm against destabilizing forces,” an ISPR statement declared, reflecting the resolve of both nations.

Munir’s visit reinforces the robust Pakistan-China alliance, a cornerstone of stability in a volatile region. As global challenges intensify, this partnership, rooted in mutual trust, positions Pakistan as a key player in ensuring peace and advancing economic goals alongside its closest ally.
