On July 15, 2025, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, strongly denounced recent Israeli and U.S. military strikes on Iran, a fellow member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), as “unacceptable” during a ministerial meeting in Tianjin, China. Addressing the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers, Dar called for diplomacy over aggression, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and international law amidst escalating Middle East tensions.

Speaking at the SCO, a 10-nation Eurasian bloc including China, Russia, Pakistan, India, and Iran, Dar condemned the June 13 Israeli airstrikes and subsequent U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear and military sites as violations of sovereignty. “Such illegal actions directed against SCO member states are unacceptable,” he declared, as reported by Dawn. He highlighted the strikes’ threat to regional peace, urging dialogue to resolve conflicts. Dar’s stance aligns with Pakistan’s broader advocacy for a just international order, rejecting the use of force as a political tool.

Dar also criticized Israel’s ongoing operations in Gaza, labeling them a “reckless disregard for international norms” and calling for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al Quds as Palestine’s capital. His condemnation reflects growing concerns among SCO members, with China and Russia also denouncing the strikes as destabilizing.

On the sidelines, Dar met Chinese President Xi Jinping and foreign ministers from Iran, Russia, and others, strengthening ties in trade, energy, and defense. He described Pakistan and China as “iron-clad brothers,” emphasizing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a pillar of regional cooperation. As tensions persist, Dar’s firm stance underscores Pakistan’s resolve to uphold sovereignty and promote peace through multilateral platforms like the SCO.
