Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) reiterated its firm stance against any aggression from India, affirming the country’s readiness to defend its sovereignty. During a weekly media briefing in Islamabad, FO Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized Pakistan’s confidence in its defense capabilities and called for a peaceful resolution through dialogue.

Khan stated, “Regarding any misadventure by India, our posture remains very robust. We are confident in our defense capabilities, and we hope India sees reason. However, if any attack or aggression occurs against Pakistan, we are ready to defend ourselves,” as reported by Pakistan Today. He referenced the recent military exercise Marka-e-Haq, which showcased Pakistan’s preparedness, and urged India to abandon belligerent rhetoric. Khan warned that India’s hegemonic ambitions would yield no results and emphasized diplomacy as the preferred means to resolve disputes.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions following India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) after the April 22, 2025, attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which resulted in 26 fatalities. India’s allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in the attack remain unsubstantiated, while reported missile strikes and airspace restrictions have further strained relations, according to Reuters. Khan dismissed these accusations as “baseless” and called for an impartial investigation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability, stating to The Frontier Post that “restraint should not be mistaken for weakness.”

Pakistan’s military leadership has echoed this position. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir warned of a “swift, resolute, notch-up response” to any Indian misadventure, as reported by Dawn. The FO also condemned India’s ongoing actions in IIOJK, citing human rights concerns and appealing for international attention, according to The Express Tribune. In response to regional challenges, Pakistan is strengthening strategic ties with allies such as China and Turkey.

Pakistan’s resolute posture underscores its commitment to protecting national interests while prioritizing peace and stability. The FO’s call for dialogue over confrontation highlights Pakistan’s dedication to resolving disputes diplomatically, while maintaining readiness to defend its sovereignty against any threats.
