Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), accused India of intensifying its proxy war against Pakistan following its defeat in the 19-day counter-terrorism operation, Marka-e-Haq, conducted from April 22 to May 10. Speaking at the 16th National Workshop in Balochistan, Munir condemned India’s sponsorship of terror proxies and emphasized Pakistan’s resolve to counter threats while advancing Balochistan’s development, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Addressing parliamentarians, civil society, and youth, Munir highlighted India’s use of terror outfits, naming “Fitna-al-Khawarij” and “Fitna-al-Hindustan” as tools in a hybrid war aimed at destabilizing Pakistan. He stated that these proxies would face the same defeat as in Marka-e-Haq, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. “These efforts are a futile attempt to target the deep-rooted loyalty of Balochistan’s people,” he remarked, as reported by ISPR. The COAS’s remarks follow the 271st Corps Commanders’ Conference, where Pakistan’s military vowed decisive action against India-backed proxies.

Munir underscored the critical role of socio-economic development in Balochistan to ensure national cohesion. He advocated for enhanced inter-agency cooperation and a unified national strategy to drive provincial progress, citing ongoing initiatives as key to countering hostile narratives. “Development is the foundation of lasting peace,” he emphasized, noting that Balochistan’s advancement strengthens Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Munir stressed the nation’s readiness to respond decisively to any internal or external threats. He underscored the army’s role in safeguarding national prestige and citizen welfare, aligning with Pakistan’s broader security objectives. The ISPR statement detailed Munir’s call for collective resolve, noting that terrorism transcends religion and ethnicity, necessitating a unified response. This address signals Pakistan’s firm stance against India’s alleged proxy tactics while prioritizing Balochistan’s integration through development and security.
