On July 20, 2025, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi launched the Online Women Police Station and the “One Info” mobile application at the Islamabad Safe City Headquarters, marking a bold step toward modernizing law enforcement and enhancing public safety. These initiatives aim to empower women and streamline emergency reporting, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to technology-driven governance and crime prevention.

During his visit to the Islamabad Safe City Headquarters, Naqvi praised Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi for pioneering these tech-based solutions. The Online Women Police Station offers a secure platform for women and vulnerable communities to report issues like harassment without needing to visit a physical station. “This is a game-changer for ensuring women’s safety and access to justice,” Naqvi stated (Pakistan Today, July 20, 2025). The “One Info” app simplifies emergency reporting, allowing citizens to log complaints swiftly and receive prompt assistance, a move Naqvi called “a leap toward smart policing” (@maqboolisb, X post, July 20, 2025). He observed real-time surveillance on the digital monitoring wall, commending the Safe City project’s role in curbing crime.

Naqvi emphasized integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the Safe City system’s capabilities, noting its success in improving emergency response times. He announced plans to expand the Islamabad model nationwide, aiming to make the capital Pakistan’s safest city. “We’re building a system where technology serves the people, not just the state,” he said (TechJuice, July 20, 2025). The minister also directed officials to link Islamabad’s system with other provinces for seamless data sharing, strengthening intercity coordination.

The launches come amid Pakistan’s broader push for digital governance, though challenges like ensuring accessibility in rural areas remain. Naqvi’s focus on women’s safety addresses a critical need, as traditional barriers often deter women from reporting crimes. IG Rizvi briefed Naqvi on future upgrades, including AI-driven monitoring tools, signaling a robust vision for urban security. As Pakistan grapples with rising militancy and public safety concerns, these initiatives reflect a proactive stance, prioritizing citizen welfare and leveraging technology to restore trust in law enforcement.
