Jalalpur Grandmother Murdered by Grandson for Gold

JALALPUR, PAKISTAN — Police in Jalalpur have solved the murder of a 65-year-old woman within 24 hours, revealing that her grandson was behind the crime.

The tragic case came to light on July 23, when Muhammad Aslam went to deliver food to his mother, Shamoon Mai. He found her room locked. After forcing the door open, he discovered her lifeless body lying on a charpoy. Visible marks on her neck and a protruding tongue pointed to strangulation. Her gold jewelry and cash were missing from the room.

City Jalalpur police registered a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 392 (robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Multan’s Capital Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar immediately ordered top priority for the investigation. Acting SSP Operations Kainat Azhar, SP Saddar Shamsuddin, and DSP Jalalpur Mian Rauf were assigned to oversee the case.

Under their direction, SHO City Jalalpur Muhammad Adnan and his team responded swiftly. A forensic team was called in to examine the crime scene. The investigators began by collecting witness statements and intelligence from the surrounding area. As suspicions grew around close family members, the police intensified their monitoring.

The breakthrough came when the grandson of the victim confessed to the crime. He admitted to entering his grandmother’s room at around 3:00 a.m. on July 22, taking advantage of the house being empty. He strangled her and stole her gold earrings, nose ring, and cash before locking the door from the outside.

Police officials praised the rapid coordination and performance of the investigation team, which led to the swift resolution of what was initially a complex case.
