Pakistan and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation during high-level military discussions held in Rawalpindi. The talks emphasized the enduring strategic partnership between the two countries, with a focus on enhancing maritime security and promoting regional stability amid complex geopolitical challenges.

The meeting took place at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi between Vice Admiral Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Ghuraybi, Chief of Staff of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF), and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) of Pakistan. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both leaders highlighted the “historical brotherly relations” grounded in shared Islamic heritage and mutual strategic interests.

Discussions concentrated on expanding defence collaboration, particularly in maritime security across the Middle East and South Asia. This ongoing alliance has traditionally encompassed economic aid, oil supplies, and military training, with Saudi Arabia playing a key supportive role for Pakistan.

Given evolving regional security dynamics, both sides addressed emerging threats and underscored Pakistan’s commitment to counterterrorism and regional peace. Vice Admiral Al Ghuraybi also met with Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, to advance naval cooperation initiatives. These include joint exercises such as Naseem Al Bahr-XV, designed to improve interoperability and safeguard vital maritime routes critical to global trade and energy supply.

Pakistan continues to serve as a vital ally to Saudi Arabia, particularly as the Kingdom navigates a volatile security environment. The partnership, rooted in decades of military and economic collaboration, enhances Saudi defence capabilities and reinforces mutual trust. General Mirza described the relationship as both strategic and fraternal, emphasizing a shared commitment to peace and stability.

With plans to diversify and deepen defence ties, this strengthened alliance is poised to contribute significantly to regional security and a stable future.
